Pai Lum Five Animal
Techniques
The original Shao Lin five animals are: Snake, Tiger, Leopard,
Crane and Dragon. Each animal has distinct characteristics in its fighting
theories associated to its nature. The Tiger fears nothing, therefore, it
utilizes its powerful claws and legs to rip and tear its prey. The leopard
stalks its prey until an opening is found. This big cat then pounces
taking its victim to the ground. The crane, slight in build, evades and attacks
with its pecking beak, flashing wings or strong kicks. The snake is usually
taught to higher level students due the internal training needed to release its venom.
Low stances are utilized as the snake waits for its opponent to advance. White snake's head, poison snake and other strikes are used, as well
as
wrapping up and choking an opponent out. The Dragon is the most revered of
the five animals. Its claws and strikes are deadly, its whipping kicks are
fast and powerful, and its evasion is untouchable.
